Innovation in Public Governance within the Framework of the Government Summit, 11-12 February, Dubai
DPADM and the Government of the United Arab Emirates are partnering in the organization of a Ministerial Roundtable and three parallel workshops on Innovation in Public Governance within the framework of the Government Summit, the first forum for government in the region. The overall theme of the Summit is "Leading Government Services'" and it will be held in Dubai 11-12 February 2013. The Summit, expected to be attended by over 2000 participants, presents a solid platform to attract ideas and experiences and showcase experiences, achievements, and best practices in government services. It is also a forum to foster creativity and innovation, and raise the level of customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality services that meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.

Featured News: Clinton Hails Oman's eGov, ICT Initiatives
Former US President Bill Clinton hailed the Sultante of Oman for promoting excellent e-Services and for making sterling progress in the ICT sector during his keynote address at the Ceremony for the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment. The award ceremony was held on 12 December 2011 in Muscat, Oman.

Poverty Alleviation in Southern Punjab (Pakistan): An Empirical Evidence from the Project Area of Asian Development Bank
This paper investigates the factors affecting rural poverty using Logit regression modeling based on primary source of data in the project area of Asian Development Bank. According to the results, rural poverty can be alleviated by lowering the household size, persons per room and dependency ratio, improving education, more female labor force participation, higher household participation rate, improving assets and household's access to market especially in remote areas. The government should pay special attention to basic infrastructure and market access facilities beside some other socio-economic and demographic variables to alleviate rural poverty in remote areas of Pakistan.
