Open Government Data Forum by EIDA and UNDESA - 28-29 April, 2014 - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Open Government Data Forum, organized by Emirates ID Authority (EIDA) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), will be held from 28-19 April, 2014 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with the theme “Open Data in the Public Administration of the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries”. The purpose of this forum is to bring together an international group of open data/ open government practitioners from different parts of the world to share their collective experiences and provide insights on implementing open data applications and transforming governments into open government champions.

ITA Launches PKI System for Secure Online Transactions, Data Exchange
MUSCAT - The Information Technology Authority (ITA) has launched a new Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system to help secure online transactions.

The advantages of the PKI system were announced during the launch of ITA’s National Digital Certification Center at Crowne Plaza Muscat on Monday.

The centre, also known as Root Certificate Authority (RCA), will be the trusted medium that provides PKI services to enable Internet users to exchange data securely and make online transaction through the use of public and private cryptographic key pairs.

Innovation in Public Governance within the Framework of the Government Summit, 11-12 February, Dubai
DPADM and the Government of the United Arab Emirates are partnering in the organization of a Ministerial Roundtable and three parallel workshops on Innovation in Public Governance within the framework of the Government Summit, the first forum for government in the region. The overall theme of the Summit is "Leading Government Services'" and it will be held in Dubai 11-12 February 2013. The Summit, expected to be attended by over 2000 participants, presents a solid platform to attract ideas and experiences and showcase experiences, achievements, and best practices in government services. It is also a forum to foster creativity and innovation, and raise the level of customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality services that meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.

Concept Paper on E-Payment Gateway
This document will discuss the regulatory requisites and other relevant pre-conditions for entities to become eligible for applying for designation as e-PG operator mandated to safely route, process and authorize local and cross border financial transactions performed by customers using various Alternative Delivery Channels (ADCs). This paper also attempts to highlight the main functions, purpose and benefits attached with payment gateways. Finally the oversight mechanism of e-PG has been discussed in detail to ensure compliance of the regulations issued by SBP from time to time and to oversee the operational activities of payment gateways in vogue to ensure sustainability and smooth functioning of the entire mechanism.
