Remote Participation IGF 2014
The 9th annual IGF meeting will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on 2-5 September 2014, with an overarching theme of "Connecting Continents for Enhanced Multistakeholder Internet Governance".  All main/focus sessions, workshops, dynamic coalitions, open forums and best practice forums will have webcast, captioning and remote participation using the WebEX interface. During the event, links to the workshops will be available on the first page of IGF website for each day. The password to all the virtual rooms is IGF14

Now Available: The United Nations E-Government Survey 2014 - Chinese Edition

The United Nations E-Government Survey 2014: E-Government for the future we want is now available in Chinese. This publication presents a systematic assessment of the use and potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to transform the public sector by enhancing its efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, accountability, as well as access to public services and citizen participation.

The European Commission Highlights the UN e-Government Survey 2014

The European Commission has published the UN e-Government Survey 2014 on its website as recommended reading. The Survey is available at the EC’s Digital Agenda for Europe portal.  This is the first time that the EC has made the UN e-Government Survey available. The Survey is produced every two years by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. It is the only global report that assesses the e-government development status of the 193 UN Member States. It serves as a tool for decision-makers to identify their areas of strength and challenges in e-government and to guide e-government policies and strategies.

UNPSA Workshop - Innovations in Public Accountability: the Role of SAIs and Citizens
During the 2014 United Nations Public Service Day, Award Ceremony and Forum, the Development Management Branch (DMB) of the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) will hold a two-day workshop on Innovations in public accountability: the role of Supreme Audit Institutes(SAIs) and citizens. The workshop will look at tools and resources for assisting SAIs to engage with citizens and fight corruption. More than 40 delegations representing supreme audit institutions in their countries, in addition to experts in public accountability and corruption fighting are expected to participate in this workshop.

UNPSA AEGM - Innovating Governance and Public Administration for Sustainable Develop

In conjunction with the United Nations Public Service Forum, Day and  Awards Ceremony scheduled to be held at the  Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Goyang, Republic of Korea, 23 – 26 June 2014, the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the United nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) will hold an Ad Hoc Expert Group Meeting (AEGM) on the topic of “Innovating Governance and Public Administration for Sustainable Development”. This is part of the DPADM’s reflection on what kind of transformation and innovation governance and public administration needs to undergo in order to make it a better enabler and facilitator of the achievement of the MDGs, post 2015 agenda and sustainable development.

UNPSA Workshop - Innovation and e-Governance for Sustainable Development

The Division for Public Administration and Development Management, through its e-Government Branch, and in collaboration with its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), is organising a Capacity Development Workshop on “Innovation and e-Governance for Sustainable Development” within the framework of the 2014 United Nations Public Service Forum, Day and Awards Ceremony to be held in the Republic of Korea from 23 to 26 June 2014. The aim of the workshop is to support developing and least developed countries to build capacity in the area of e-governance for sustainable development through knowledge sharing and transfer.

2014 UN Public Service Day, Awards Ceremony and Forum, 23-26 June, Seoul, Republic of Korea

The 2014 United Nations Public Service Forum, Day and Awards Ceremony will take place in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 23 to 26 June 2014 on the theme of “Innovating Governance for Sustainable Development and Well-being of the People”. It is organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) through its Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) collaborating with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea. 5 Capacity Development Workshops, an Ad Hoc Expert Group Meeting and a Ministerial Roundtable will take place during the forum. Winners of the 2014 United Nations Public Service Awards will receive the award during the forum, along celebration of the International Public Service Day.
