Call for Proposals: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery
The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) invites all South African government departments/municipalities (national, provincial and local) and other institutions in partnership with a department/municipality to apply for funding under this call themed: Citizen Focused Frontline Service Delivery.

Applicants are required to submit a short concept note in response to this call. Should a private service provider and/or civil society organisations wish to participate, it must be done in partnership with a government department/municipality that will act as the lead applicant.

The End of Internet Freedom?
There is a saying that 'the internet never forgets'. Mario Costeja would certainly agree. In 2009 the Spaniard took Google to court after he noticed searches for his name were pulling up legal notices from the late 1990's. Against all expectations, Mr. Costeja won, and thanks to him we now all have the 'right to be forgotten' online. But do we deserve this right? Do we deserve the right to decide what is acceptable and what isn't? The European Court of Justice ruling this year is a watershed moment for the info sphere - it redefines the individual's relationship to his/her online data, not to mention presenting a practical quandrum for search giants like Google.

APEC Targets Doubling of Renewable Energy
APEC member economies, the world’s largest producers and consumers of energy, are advancing new measures to double the share of renewable energy in the region within 15 years to keep pace with rising demand and ease the environmental impact of economic development across the Asia-Pacific. Actions ranging from technical cooperation to facilitate solar photovoltaic rooftop installation to support for low carbon heating system development and renewable energy grid integration were taken forward during a just concluded week-long assembly of APEC energy officials in Port Moresby, on the heels of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and subsequent bilateral meeting between China and the United States that announced their landmark emissions deal.
