CAFRAD is organizing a high-level seminar on innovative strategies and policies of decentralization in African countries “How can Decentralization Serve as a National Strategy for Preventing and Resolving Conflicts and a Policy for Economic and Social Development? ”

The main objectives of this seminar are to lead participants to:

  • Share knowledge and experiences through discussions of the various practices in their respective countries; Explore current trends and new approaches in decentralization, local governance and poverty alleviation;
  • Develop enhanced capacities for performance in the light of their responsibilities;
  • Become more conscious of their responsibilities to their peoples at the local levels, in the light of the eye-opening revellations which the seminar will make;
  • Cooperate, as partners in progress, with other levels of governance, in a joint effort towards the achievement of the best practice of democracy for African countries;
  • Enhance collaboration between countries and organizations that attend the Seminar, at which a bond of acquaintanceship will have ensued;
  • Examine exhaustively ways by which local governments can take advantage of constitutional provisions to generate funds for the service of their people.
