The Planning Commission and the National Innovation Council (NInC) of India will hold their first Google Hangout session later today to discuss India’s 12th Five-Year Plan.
Chaired by the Prime Minister, the Planning Commission formulates India’s Five-Year Plans, determining the priorities of the economy and planning the most effective and balanced utilisation of resources. The 12th Five-Year Plan (2012-2017) is currently in effect.
The multi-person video chat will be attended by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, and Sam Pitroda, Chairman of NInC. The two senior officials, along with other members of the Planning Commission, will discuss the objectives and provisions of the 12th Plan with the youth of India.
A statement released by the Commission declares that “the Google Hangout takes forward the inclusive process followed by the Commission in formulating the Plan”. The Planning Commission will communicate the content of the 12th Plan through various social networks, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, over the next few months.
The Commission will also be live tweeting the Hangout through its Twitter handle, @PlanComIndia.
