Philippine Govt Call Centre Launches SMS Service

Citizens can now voice their queries, complaints, concerns and recommendations on various public services right on the palm of their hands all thanks to the Government Call Centre’s new SMS service.

The Government Call Centre, dubbed “Contact Center ng Bayan” (The Nation’s Contact Centre), is a joint effort by six government agencies.

It was conceived to be the government’s main help desk where citizens and other entities can voice their complaints and concerns with government agencies and gain access to information.

The participating agencies are the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Civil Service Commission, Department of Health, Department of Trade and Industry, National Computer Centre and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

According to Civil Service Commission-Region 8 Director Marilyn Taldo, the SMS service is part of the Commission’s plan to make it easier and more convenient for the public to voice their queries about services in the participating government offices.

In addition, it eliminates the need for citizens to travel to the government agency for clarifications they may need on certain services.

The contact centre can be reached by sending a text message to 090-888-16565.
